How to Cancel a Subscription on iPhone (Step-by-Step)

3 min read  ·  Works on all iPhones running iOS 15 and later

If you're being charged for an app, streaming service, or subscription through your iPhone, here's how to cancel it — usually in under a minute.

Cancel Through iPhone Settings (Works for Most Apps)

1

Open Settings

Tap the Settings app on your home screen.

2

Tap your name at the top

Your name appears at the very top of the Settings screen. Tap it to open your Apple ID page.

3

Tap Subscriptions

You'll see this option partway down the Apple ID screen. It shows all your active and expired subscriptions.

4

Find and tap the subscription you want to cancel

Scroll through the list to find it. Tap on it to open the subscription details.

5

Tap Cancel Subscription

Scroll down on that screen and tap Cancel Subscription. Then confirm the cancellation when prompted.

You'll still have access until the end of the current billing period.

If You Don't See It in Subscriptions

Some services — like Netflix, Spotify, or Amazon Prime — handle billing directly, not through Apple. In that case:

How to Check What You're Being Charged For

1

Open Settings → tap your name → Subscriptions

This screen lists every subscription connected to your Apple ID, active or expired.

2

Check the renewal date and price for each

Tap any subscription to see exactly when you'll be charged next and how much it costs.

Important:
• Deleting an app does not cancel the subscription — you must cancel through Settings
• Cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date to avoid being charged again
• You can always resubscribe later without losing your data
