Scroll down to see Battery Usage by App. Look for any app using a high percentage — especially in the background.
This shows which apps are consuming the most power. If one app is using far more than others, that's likely your culprit.
iPhone: Settings → Accessibility → Display & Text Size → Auto-Brightness (turn on).
Android: Pull down the notification shade and drag the brightness slider lower.
Turn it off completely, or turn it off for specific apps that don't need to update in the background.
Set apps to While Using instead of Always. Turn off location entirely for apps that don't need it.
iPhone: Settings → Mail → Accounts → Fetch New Data. Change from Push to Fetch or Manual to stop your phone constantly checking for new messages.
iPhone: Settings → Battery → Low Power Mode.
Android: Settings → Battery → Battery Saver.
This limits background activity and can extend your battery by several hours.
If Maximum Capacity is below 80%, the battery is worn and may need replacing. Apple offers battery replacements at Apple Stores and authorized service providers.
